I had a memoir idea and years of notes but couldn’t organize them into a manuscript. The ghostwriter began with several detailed interviews, and I initially wondered why we needed so much preparation. Once the writing started, I understood. The interviews helped bring out stories and details that weren’t in my notes. Some of the early chapters sounded more formal than my natural voice, so we worked on making them more conversational.

My manuscript looked fine in Word, but the formatting wasn’t suitable for a finished book. The formatting team handled margins, chapter headings, page numbers, spacing, and section breaks and made the whole interior consistent. I particularly liked the chapter-opening design because it gives the book a clear visual rhythm. I found one awkward page break during the proof review, and they corrected it quickly. The first proof took slightly longer than I expected, but the final layout is clean and comfortable to read, which was my main priority.

The team helped me prepare a press release that covered the book and my background without making exaggerated claims. I appreciated being able to review the wording and correct a couple of details before distribution. My main criticism is that the final reporting could have been more detailed. I wanted to know more about where the release had appeared and what kind of response it generated. Still, the process itself was straightforward.

I decided to request a manuscript evaluation before investing in full editing, and I’m glad I did. The reviewer provided practical feedback on pacing, dialogue, structure, and character development while also pointing out what was already working well. I appreciated that the comments were encouraging without avoiding the weaknesses.

I was nervous about receiving editorial feedback, but the experience turned out to be much more encouraging than I expected. The editor pointed out weak transitions, repetitive wording, and areas where my characters needed stronger motivation.
